It takes more than just theory to shape the leaders of the future.
We believe that more than leadership theory is needed to build the leaders of the future. Here, you will work with leadership in practice and build concrete experience that you can apply in both your personal and professional life.
As a member of JCI, you have the opportunity to take on leadership roles in projects and the organization—at local, national, and international levels. JCI offers a unique combination of training, networking, sparring, and practical 'learning by doing,' providing you with the best conditions to develop as a leader.
We believe that by creating better leaders, we build a better society.
Vår metod
Everything we do is its own project, providing an opportunity to practice leadership. The first is to develop the local organization. After that, the organization is filled with everything from small projects like organizing the next meeting to larger activities such as a business gala with 800 guests or an international leadership academy gathering participants and organizers from 30 countries.
Through involvement in activities ranging from sustainable development to international projects, we take responsibility for our communities while developing ourselves by meeting, learning, and practicing.
If you can lead a project, you can lead anything. That’s why JCI runs projects that develop our society.
All our activities are run as small projects that provide an opportunity to practice leadership and train skills such as goal setting, collaboration, change management, feedback, and evaluation.
JCI conducts training sessions, workshops, and meetings on leadership. To develop your leadership skills, you are expected to help facilitate and lead these training sessions and workshops.
You will have the opportunity to practice communication, presentation skills, meeting management, coaching, and much more.
In JCI, you will be part of a network of young people with diverse professional backgrounds from a wide range of industries.
We gather locally, nationally, and internationally to meet others, exchange experiences, and, of course, have a great time together.
You create your future, and together we create a better society.

The Story of JCI
Junior Chamber International, abbreviated JCI, or Juniorhandelskammaren in Swedish, is a nonprofit organization built by its members. The association is open to driven members between the ages of 18 and 40 who want to contribute to the development of the organization, society, and both their own and other members' growth.
JCI started in St. Louis, Missouri, USA, in 1915. At that time, St. Louis was a city at its peak, having just hosted both the Olympics and a world fair. It was in this spirit of possibility that the spark was ignited.
Grundaren, Henry Gissenbier, samlade vänner och vänners vänner för att skapa något som han beskrev med orden ”one grand body with that great purpose of fellowship, advancement and everything that will make a good boy a better boy, a good student a more proficient scholar and a good citizen a better citizen”. Young Men’s Progressive Civic Association grundades den 13 oktober 1915, och döptes 1918 om till “Junior Chamber of Commerce”.
The idea spread across the world, and in 1944, the first official international congress was held in Mexico City.
The international bylaws begin with the following text:
We young men of the world gathered at this Congress,
Conscious of the fact that adequate civic training of young men will enable them to exercise decisive influence in the just solution of the problems of humanity,
Determined to shield future generations from unhappiness brought about by misunderstanding among men and anxious to promote the well-being and progress of all peoples,
Resolve to unite our efforts by constituting an international association of Junior Chambers.
JCI came to Sweden in 1953. Over the years, Sweden has made several contributions to the international organization, including having the first female delegate.
